In society, rules function as a system to avoid chaos. A guild is like a microcosm of a society and the rules we maintain are in place for the protection and order of all members.
Our rules are simple. As such, it is the expectation of the Guild Master and the Officers for ALL guild members to follow them.
Rule #1: Treat everyone with the respect that you would wish to be treated.
Everyone enjoys themselves more when they are happy. Behaving in an insulting manner towards another person is a surefire way to diminish their happiness. Excessive flaming will not be tolerated. Everybody enjoys a good joke and to poke fun at each other from time to time. All well and good. But once a person starts to become uncomfortable or feels threatened it ceases to be OK. Everyone is different and has a different threshold for abuse. Some people can take crap all day and be just fine. Others are of a more prickly nature. Test the waters carefully and respectfully and you will be better off. Nobody needs enemies within their guild. Having enemies within your guild is a good way to soon find yourself without a guild at all.
Rule #2: Do not be a douchebag
This goes hand in hand with Rule #1. No one likes an asshole. So don't be one. Talking trash about your fellow guildies, being a fool in guild chat or making yourself seem a generally unpleasant individual are things you want to avoid. If you can't control yourself and absolutely have to behave like a slobbering idiot we do not have room for you in Grove Elite. Period.
Rule #3: No Guild Bank robbery
Self explanatory. Do not go into our Guild Bank, withdraw something you have no use for and place it on the Auction House for your own personal gain. If you are caught you are gone. Bottom line.
The GB has logs and we know exactly when you take something out of it or put something in. We monitor this. You've been warned.
Rule #4: Promotions
Promotions in Grove Elite can come in a number of ways. Most of them will come with time served within our ranks. We keep track of everyones' join date. As such, you will receive promotions at the appropriate intervals with no effort from yourself other than following these rules.
It should be noted that we want our forum and community to expand. Because of this, players can not expect to receive promotions above the rank of Page if they have not completed registration on this forum. There is no requirement for continued membership in the guild. If you are content being a Page in Grove Elite there is no reason you will ever have to join the forum. Your position in the guild will not be threatened.
Services of merit are also taken into consideration with promotions. If you consistently go above and beyond in your dedication to your guild there is a very good chance you will receive early promotions. Bear this in mind.
Rule #5: Activity Policy.
We are a very active guild. We maintain a reasonable requirement of activity to remain a member of Grove Elite. You need to sign in once a week as a bare minimum. Not hard to do. The higher in rank you go the more leeway you have with this. But, chances are, if you rose to a high rank within the guild you are an active player already and have nothing to worry about.
Rule #6: Ventrilo.
The use of Vent is mandatory for all Officers and for raiding. No real grey area here. It makes things much simpler. A player does not need to talk in Vent. So no microphone is required. Just merely have the capacity to listen. This means you must download the Ventrilo client if you wish to run with your awesome guildies in a raid.
It can be found here: www.ventrilo.com/
In a raid, the seconds it takes to type an explanation of something can be detrimental to success in an encouter. We wish to minimize failure so this is why it is required.
Rule #7: Have fun
The last and most important rule. Enjoy yourself. This is a game. Games are meant to be fun. So have lots of it.
